Red Gold is proud to announce that Fishers High School has been selected as the winner of the Red Gold IHSAA Sportsmanship Award for the 2009-2010 winter sports season.

This award recognizes the outstanding efforts of an individual school to promote sportsmanship in their high school athletics program. Red Gold, IHSAA, and the IHSAA Student Advisory Committee participated in the award selection process, which considered submissions from more than 190 IHSAA-member schools from throughout Indiana.

It is clear that Fishers is committed to promoting good sportsmanship in their athletic programs based on both the number and quality of activities that the school uses to ensure that sportsmanship is a priority.

“Red Gold is pleased to present a $2,000 cash award to Fishers High School because they exemplify good sportsmanship in all areas of their athletic programs both on and off the field,” explained Greg Metzger, director of marketing with Red Gold.

Red Gold honored Fishers with a special presentation March 27 at the boys basketball state championships at Conseco Fieldhouse.

“Fishers High School is honored to be the 2010 winter recipient of the Red Gold IHSAA Sportsmanship Award,” said Jon Miles, Fishers co-athletic director along with Jim Brown. “We believe, and teach, our students that they are ambassadors representing their families, school, and the Town of Fishers.

“Whether they are acting as host for a home activity or away, they are always making and leaving a positive impression. Our fans, student-athletes, and patrons have helped create a culture that provides our students with opportunities to achieve the highest degree of sportsmanship, fair play, and excellence in an atmosphere of mutual respect.”
